Freeview

Freeview is a selection of around 40 television channels and over 30 radio stations that you can receive through an aerial. There's no subscription to pay: they're all free. All you have to do is have the correct equipment. Existing TV sets can be converted with a set-top box, or replaced by a digital television set with Freeview already built in (IDTVs).

All the channels you can already receive through your aerial are also on Freeview - but you get much more with the digital versions. True widescreen pictures, improved picture and sound quality, digital text and an on-screen programme guide are all thrown in!

You'll also be able to enjoy lots of new channels. Many are from the broadcasters you already know, and some are from those you don't. Many of the most popular and well-known digital channels are available on Freeview: from Virgin 1 to ITV2, BBC Three to Film4, and UKTV History to Sky News... there's something for everyone. Children's programmes, documentaries, films, sport and drama - all for free, through your aerial.

Digital television also allows you to "interact" with your telly: by pressing the red button you can access a wealth of extra content, from live sports coverage to music concerts and karaoke sing-a-longs.

To give your eyes a break, there are plenty of radio stations to choose from, too. Everything from news and current affairs to the latest chart and pop music is available, so you're bound to find something you like!
